Globe Lights for Weddings

All American Christmas Co. carries a wide variety of light strings and bulbs that can fit in to about any application or holiday. One of the most popular "Christmas Light" bulbs for use during other events are Globe lights, these round bulbs are a classic style bulb that don't appear at all Christmas-y. These have skyrocketed in popularity in the past few years for us in weddings because almost any theme can find a place for these lamps. This blog will again cover Globe bulbs and their uses in Weddings.

About Globe Bulbs

There are three basic sizes of Globe lights, and they come on two size bases (the part that screws into a socket). The three sizes are G30, G40, and G50. G30 bulbs are approximately 1 1/8" wide, are around 5 watts and come on a C7 (candelabra) base. G40 bulbs are larger at 1 1/2" in diameter and use approx. 7 watts, these bulbs are available on either C7 or C9 (intermediate) bases. G50 is the largest of the globe lights we carry, at 2" diameter and 7 watts they are great for most applications and work in C7 or C9 base sockets.

G30s are great for short or small runs of lights, but G40 and G50 are the sizes most people think of when imagery of these types of lights pop into your head. As you can see from the picture above the size of the bulbs is pretty apparent when put next to one another.

Using Globe Lights in a Wedding

The creativity of wedding decorators and Brides is staggering, from using simple mason jars around mini lights as a lighted jar light string to simple and elegant table pieces from other rather unconventional objects people are always coming up with fantastic ways to add class to their special day without spending a ton of money!

Using Clear or Pearl White incandescent bulbs lends a classy and great ambience to any Wedding ceremony or reception. You can string the lights around the ceiling inside above the ceremony for a soft warm glow, you can also use them around the ceiling of a tent to great effect. If you are having an outdoor reception, you can string them across tables for accent lighting for the guests or they are great to hang around a dance floor.

We carry both White, Green, and some Black wire to hang the lights. You'll need to be aware of the power restrictions (Check out this blog to learn about calculating power).
